PRESS: Russian Railways reports unfair wheel price to antitrust

MOSCOW, Jun 20 (PRIME) -- Russian Railways and the Union of Railway Operators Market have complained to the Federal Antimonopoly Service about high prices for wheels, business daily Kommersant reported on Thursday, citing a letter by the organizations.

According to the claim, annual demand for wheels amounts to 1.6 million while only 1.5 million are produced. The wheels for the Russian track gauge are made by the Vyksa Metal Works, part of United Metallurgical Company (OMK), Evraz NTMK (Nizhny Tagil Metallurgical Plant), and Ukraine’s Interpipe.

Prices stood at about 23,000 rubles in January–March and rose to 101,000 rubles in May, while the scrap metal price growth not exceeded 30% on the year.
